I was precisely picturing the Astronaut going like this any second.

It was still hilarius when it happened.

GillnKillshorts responds:

Thank you Tesla <3, we thank you for your review also be sure to check up here soon we are posting content weekly and we'll have a new downy and hat by the end of the week, once again thank you, Brandon & Trevor :D.

I do not have the slightest idea what I just watched.

It was, however, quite entertaining.
I guess.

funymony responds:

Haha, you watched my work and that's enough to flatter me. Thank you for your time. <3

Musca Domestica Wins.
Flawless victory.

FATALITY.

(Sorry, it was kinda asking for it).
Entertainingly gross, if not amusingly disgusting, my good Sir.
Especially liked the cactuses (cacti? screw this... spiky veg) in the background. Great animation, although the dude looked a little bit sketchy. I dont want to say he might have needed more detail, but just a little bit of colour (dunno, moderate beige, or so) would have made him fit into the scenario just a little bit better.

Besides from than, really fun one. Would like to see this frontpaged.

Sherbalex responds:

beige would be getting too close to skin, and this thing isnt particularily human. i didnt want that kind of identification.

and i knew someone was going to make a mortal kombat reference, if it was going to be anyone, im glad it was you whynot

Great one.

This surely is some FP material.
My congratulations for the funny idea, wich is remarkably well executed in both style and animation.
Just one question bothers me: Browsing through your work, I found that most of your animations seem to have a distinct slight greyish and/or mat tone, this particular one being no exception.
Is that on purpose?

Besides from that, as I said, great stuff.
I would be glad to see more of your work soon.

CaffeineClown responds:

Thanks for the review! :D You know, that's a good question haha! I never really thought about that .... I guess the dulled saturation is intentional. Really vivid colours just makes it all seem -too- cartoony in my opinion (which in hindsight sounds silly). Assuming that's what you were getting at! But yeah! Thanks again! :)

Good, but reupload with voice.

toon53 responds:

Works fine on my side? I've tested it on one of our Macs and a PC. Are you watching on a mobile?

Very well done, Sir.

Honestly, I did not know what was actually going on most of the time, but I suppose its because I have never watched any of the other episodes.
Both humour and overall style remind me of the old "Ratchet & Clank" games, wich is a good thing, as it gives me that objective-judgement-numbing feeling of nostalgia I associate with all things PS2.

Ah, childhood...

Anyways,
My only complain would be the shading and the textures. From my point of view, it would greatly improve the quality of your work if you used moderate cel shading instead of Phong or plastic shading, as most 3D-graphic animations do (wich, again just my opinion, causes the whole picture to look awkward despite of detailed designs and good animation).
The fact that your character models and backgrounds are rather edged would be another reason to use cel shading, as it looks particularly good on low-polygon animation (just think of "Jet Set Radio", for instance). The resulting lack of surface detail could then be compensated through the use of detailed hig-res textures.

Of, corse, these are just some Ideas, and I am everything but an expert on the subject. Still, I admire the effort that went into this , as well as the final product, and would be glad to see your skills develop.

Tanadrine-Studios responds:

I will say that once I get my hands on some better hardware, a lot of those hard edges and render errors will disappear. Because the hardware I'm using is literally a decade old, I had to composite the majority of the shots to avoid memory ceilings and cpu overload... with software that wasn't really designed for compositing to boot (Blender).

As for cel shading... I'm going to use your suggestion at some point in an experimental short, as i've never really delved into that very deeply. I think it'd be a perfect opportunity to test things out!

The detailed commentary is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Good. Very good indeed.
Absolutely love the use of colour in this one. Art and animation might be simple, but they are remarkably well done.
Most of all, i appreciate the humor, wich is light hearted yet not stupid and presents itself with a refreshing lack of violence and dick jokes.

CarlDoonan responds:

I was originally going to make the short just straight black-and-white, but toward the end of production I felt the characters would pop more on color. Nice to see that decision worked out!

As for the humor, I'm glad you appreciated it! While dirty/violent humor can certainly work quite well, I prefer to keep my stuff pretty clean overall so I can share it with a wider audience.

Awww, That was nasty.

But seriusly, good animation. There arent too many cases in wich this style -The tweening of single elements of the picture- works out so well. Some animators just take it as an excuse to be lazy.
You, however, have obviously put a lot of effort into this piece, and the quality of the result is remarkable.

I did especially appreciate the fitting music.

Gi-go responds:

I'm a sucky fbf animator so I guess it just worked out!

Thanks a lot
